Down-to-Earth Fun on the Farm
JC and Kara have grown together, first through a mutual love of entrepreneurship, running, the outdoors, and big, big dreams.
As a blended family of seven, their homestead sits on two acres just outside of Hillsboro proper. After the birth of their twins, they decided to shift their focus to perennial plant starts and vegetables, but over the years have cared for chickens, ducks, rabbits, and guinea fowl. As the toddlers get old enough to carry feed buckets, small animals will make their way back to the farm, as will goats, bees, and a renewed focus on finding the perfect cider recipe for their heritage apples.
Through Kara’s work as a social worker and JC’s interest in mutual aid and regenerative agriculture, they believe that abundance should belong to everyone. In addition to selling the fruits of their labors (ha!), they also believe strongly in giving back to their community, spreading knowledge, and creating connections to strengthen us all.
As the farm continues to grow, be on the lookout for classes, special events, and more.
